  The Ministry of Altar Servers is a group of young people assisting in the Parish liturgical celebrations. Its main goal is to encourage those who want to become worthy guards of honor to the Eucharistic King and enkindle greater piety and devotion to Christ through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
     

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

  The gospel adapted for children ages 4 to 10. Children are gathered at the altar for prayer and then go to the classroom to study the Word. It provides an opportunity to experience the Word of God at a level that children can understand.

  The committee is responsible for planning our parish Masses. The committee looks at the various liturgical seasons, Church feast and Holy Days, and other special times in the Catholic Church to ensure that the environment of the church, the characteristics of the liturgical celebration, and the music all work hand-in-hand toward making the experience of the Mass the most meaningful, prayerful and inspirational. The committee oversees the various ministerial roles in the liturgy seeking to encourage congregational participation in all aspects of the Mass, attempting to engage the community having beautiful and appropriate music and an inspirational environment.
     
Church Environment

Maintains the appearance of the church (including the sacristy, sanctuary, side altars, and vestibule), through cleaning, polishing, and upkeep of the sacred space, caring for the linens and vestments, and keeping the church in orderly manner.

Also decorates the church to enhance the celebration during the various liturgical seasons of the year. Maintain and care for the plants and floral arrangements.

  Greets parishioners and visitors as they arrive at church. Assists with seating, presentation of the gifts at mass, and distribution of communion. Collects offertory and passes out bulletins after mass.

  Assist the priest and the faith community in the preparation of the altar and sanctuary for Sunday and special liturgies in the Church. They are responsible for the proper care of the sacred vessels and other items used for liturgy.

Readers must understand and believe that they are performing a real ministry by sharing God’s Word and one’s faith. Qualities necessary for lecturing at St. Mary’s include:

  • Live a lifestyle in accordance with teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Regularly attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
  • Prepare, practice and pray the scripture readings prior to the liturgical celebration.
  • Proclaim the scripture readings boldly and clearly.

Assist the Priest with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. To qualify to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist one must:

  • Be a confirmed practicing Catholic who attends Mass regularly on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
  • Live a life in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Conduct oneself with reverence in handling the Body and Blood of Jesus.
  • Cultivate devotion to the Holy Eucharist.
     

Music Ministry

  Good and appropriate music enhances the mass experience and contributes to the liturgy and spirituality. This ministry is for anyone who enjoys psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs and can sing or play an instrument. New members are always welcome. Choirs sing in English and Spanish and each is scheduled for one weekend of Masses each month.
     
Gift Bearers

  At Mass one family or couple is selected by the Ushers unless there is a request by a family to carry the gifts (Body and Blood) to the Priest for Consecration.
     

Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick

  Ministers visit with and bring Holy Communion to the homebound parishioners and those in hospitals and nursing homes. If you or your family member or neighbors, need to receive Holy Communion or need a priest for Anointing of the Sick, please contact the Rectory.
     

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

  Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a means of focusing the heart and mind in prayer. “Could you spend 1 hour with me?”Adorers are needed at all hours. You must sign-up in the Rectory. For your own safety and the safety of others, please do not share the code.
     

First Friday of Divine Mercy

  Come and join us for this hour of praise and worship and receive many Blessings; 7:00 pm in the Church.
     
Rosary Group   Prays the rosary before the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass at 9:00 a.m.
     
     

Charismatic Spanish Prayer Group

  Invites you for worship and praise every Monday at 7pm in the church. Come experience the power of God! The Healing Mass is celebrated on the 1st Monday of the month at 6:00 pm at the church.
     
Mass at Dawn   9 days of masses celebrating the birth of Christ beginning each year on December 15th at the church at 5:30 a.m. except on Sundays at 7:00 a.m.
     

Bereavement Ministry (English)

  Provides spiritual and emotional support to families following the death of a loved one. The Ministers lead the prayers and Rosary at the Vigil service for the deceased and their relatives and friends. They also meet with families to support them and assist in choosing the scripture readings for the funeral mass. Ministers’ set-up for the funeral mass and assist the Priest. Once a year in November, a Memorial Mass is planned for the families who have loss a loved one, followed by a reception .
